In case anyone is curious...

I'm shopping for a car right now, and once again, I'm aiming for a three-figure price tag. This is very common for me. Erika asked me the other night how I learned to work on cars, which got me thinking: Can I do the list?

Cars I've owned:
1979 VW Scirocco, silver, 4 speed
1985 VW Golf, blue, 5 speed
1982 Dodge Omni O24, maroon, 4 speed
1983 Datsun 720 4wd pickup, blue, 5 speed
1974 VW Super Beetle, orange, 4 speed
1982 Dodge 400 coupe, gray, 2.2 liter, 4 speed
1984 Chrysler Laser XE Turbo, brown, automatic
1984 Honda Accord sedan, maroon, 5 speed
1979 Plymouth Volare sport coupe, blue, "slant six", automatic
1986 Dodge Colt hatchback, blue, 4 speed
1985 Chevy Cavalier sedan, beige, automatic
1985 Chevy Cavalier Type 10 coupe, black, 5 speed
1978 Chevy Nova custom coupe, blue, V8, automatic
1971 Buick Electra convertible, red, V8, automatic
1984 Mazda B2000 Sundowner pickup, silver, 5 speed
1979 Buick LeSabre sedan, silver, V8 automatic
1992 Ford Tempo GLS 2 door, red, automatic
1987 Toyota Corolla hatchback, silver, 5 speed
1988 Oldsmobile Calais, maroon,"Quad 4," 5 speed
1993 Ford Escort hatchback, blue, automatic
2002 Mazda Protege DX sedan, white, 5 speed
1985 Plymouth Caravelle sedan, maroon, automatic
2005 Ford Focus ZX3, yellow, automatic

Cars owned by family/friends/SO's that I drove a significant amount:
1984 Cadillac Cimarron, yellow, automatic
1987 Audi 5000S, red, automatic
1967 Chrysler Newport sedan, tan, V8, automatic
1990 Geo Metro XFI, red, 5 speed
1988 Ford Bronco II, blue, 5 speed
1991 Plymouth Sundance, red, 5 speed
1994 Oldsmobile Achieva coupe, red, automatic
1986 Chevy Spectrum, blue, automatic
2002 Toyota 4-Runner, maroon, automatic
1991 Nissan Pathfinder, black, 5 speed

The Pathfinder is "our" only car right now, but it's clear that it's Erika's car. I just get to drive it. I have a line on another silver Scirocco, though, so I guess we'll see...

02 Mazda

Why'd you get rid of the '02 Mazda? Those things will usually last until the sun ceases to shine. Of coure, I have Mazda bias ('00 626, baby!)

Re: 02 Mazda

Oh, I wish I had kept it, believe me. I was, um, "persuaded" to get rid of it and get something with an automatic. We both regret it. That car would have been around another ten years. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

But I'm going to test-drive 2 different VW Sciroccos today, and they're way cooler than Mazdas (no offense...)

One of my favorite cars was a '93 Ford Escort hatchback, but it was the GT model, 5 speed manual....loved to drive it!
duh, sorry, forgot to sign in!!! That was my comment.
yeah, Beth, you can blame the Mazda debacle on me... we needed a commuter car, and he didn't shift as smoothly as I like so I "suggested" he get something with an automatic... bad me, bad me!
